Who makes the wine?
Winemaker, Bob Delf combines wine from a variety of top vineyards to create the finest blends with custom college labels.
How do I buy the wine?
Alumni Wine's custom university labeled wine can be purchased by the bottle, by the case (10% case discount, mixed okay) or by signing up for a regular auto-ship from the Alumni Wine website (Alumni Wine's Barrel Boosters Wine Enthusiast Program) or from a link from your participating university's website.
What does it cost?
Retail prices range from $15 - $22 per bottle.
What kind of wines do you sell?
2005 Merlot, 2005 Bordeaux-style blend, 2008 Sauvignon Blanc-Chardonnay blend.
Have any of the wines been rated or awarded?
The 2005 Merlot received rave reviews since its release and was awarded the Gold, Grand Award of Excellence in the 2008 Seattle Wine Awards! Additional awards include: Double Gold, Finger Lakes International wine competition; Bronze, Dallas Morning News wine competition; Best Buy Wine Press Northwest 2008.
Bordeaux style blend awards include Vintner's Honor, 2008 Seattle Wine Awards; Bronze, Finger Lakes International wine competition; and 90 points in the 2008 Wine&Spirits Magazine.
The 2008 Sauvignon Blanc/Chardonnay blend 2009 awards include a Gold from Seattle Wine Awards, 2009, Best White Blend under $20 and Outstanding! from WinePress NW, their highest award.
Where does the money go?
Primarily to fund scholarships however it is up to each participating university.
How much goes back to the school?
Fifteen percent of each bottle.
What Universities are doing it?
City University of Seattle is a current participating university and the University of Washington Orthodontist Alumni Association. Discussions are under way for similar programs at other universities.
